Shakespeare lovers, teachers and students can now follow the bard's advice, "Go search like nobles, like noble subjects", with the help of a search engine devoted exclusively to matters Shakespearan. The newly launched search engine, named 'Shakespeare Searched' (shakespeare.clusty.com), is designed to provide quick access to passages from Shakespeare's plays and sonnets. Search results are clustered by topic, work and character to make it easy to find exactly the targeted information. For example, searching for "blood" in "Macbeth" delivers 21 results, displayed in their contexts or "surrounding texts". Moreover, the 21 results could be further classified according to sub-themes, like "murder" - leading to five paragraphs that mention both "blood" and "murder". The unique website covers a wide ground from something as simple as identifying who said a particular quote to discovering underlying thematic elements across the bard's canon. The site, built with Vivísimo Velocity search software, comes free of charge and without advertisements. The site would be especially useful in academia. If a student has read the play and writing a term paper but cannot remember where a specific quote occurs, a search by character, work or keyword will trace the quote complete with citation. While 'Shakespeare Searched' does not give students ready essays as many sites do, it can be used as a tool to generate ideas and topics for original essays. Similarly, the site is a rich resource for teachers who can plan lessons or assignments around it.
