Two Maoists were killed and three policemen seriously injured in an encounter in Barikul area of Bankura district tonight, a senior police officer said.
The Maoists fired at the armed police outpost at around 9:15 pm prompting the police men to retaliate, SP Rajesh Sinha said.
In the gun-battle, two Maoists were killed and three police men seriouly injured, he said.
Policemen continued the fire forcing the ultras to retreat towards a jungle area.
The area was cordoned off by security personnel.
