4 Questions To See If Your Building Program Will Glorify God

Four questions you need to answer before starting a building program.

1. Is God going to be glorified from this building program?

Will a building program with this church, with this pastor and at this time truly bring Glory to God? Seemingly, if your church is growing and you are running out of room, the answer could be yes!

Luke 14:28 tells us to "count the cost.. whether we have sufficient to finish it." Is there sufficient time, staff, leadership and money to complete the project.

Take notice: As you count the cost, realize that your time will be taken away from an already busy schedule and from study, prayer and family.

2. What are your motivations for this building program?

Determine the purpose behind your building program. Whether it's a new building, a renovation or remodeling make sure it's not because of ego or leadership driven, but Spirit led.

Solomon built a magnificent and beautiful temple, yet failed the Lord and Israel miserably in his spiritual life.

3. Does our mission statement include this building program?

To answer this you must have a mission statement that is in writing and your people must know what that mission statement is. From there you will need to fervently pray and fast seeking the Lord's will and clear direction.

A large building project in Israel did not move forward until Nehemiah fasted and mourned seeking Gods clear direction and will.

4. Is this building program a necessity for our church?

You might be saying that your sanctuary is full, or we can't grow if we don't build. Have you considered any alternatives? Such as going to two services or relocating to a gymnasium.

Maybe your need is for more classroom space, in this case an alternative could be to change the classroom or Sunday School structure which would free up classrooms for other ages.

If you have answered the four questions above and through prayer and fasting the Lord will be glorified through this building program - then continue in confidence in Him.
