Three months into her senior year, high school student Aezukhail was finally able to hold her first novel in her hands. Victim of Destiny, a 77,000 word composition of futuristic fiction and the first book of twelve in her series called the Archives of Fate, was at last hers to read between bound covers with the help of Lulu (www.lulu.com), the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books. Over the next seven months, Glory Everlasting and Salvaged Hope were added to her collection of novels made available by the print-on-demand website. Each book in her series called the Archives of Fate is an account of the happenings on different planets in the galaxy called Fate where an enterprise of scientists strive to overtake worlds with its army of experiments and robots. She sees herself as an eccentric storyteller writing stories for teenagers by a teenager, and has been selling copies of her books to students at her high school. After her first rejection letter from a publisher at the age of thirteen, Aezukhail then proceeded to amass a large amount of denied slips from both agents and publishers alike up until the day she was introduced to the print-on-demand site. She decided that traditional publishing was not her path and set to formatting and uploading her materials onto Lulu.com. “When I found Lulu I had all but given up as a writer. This website has not only turned my dream into reality, but has given me the freedom to control every aspect of my series from the text fonts to the cover design. Everything is uniquely me and I’m ecstatic with the results,” said Aezukhail. “Writing is like breathing to me, and even if I can't traditionally get published I won't stop. Seeing the Archives in book form makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something with my life.”
