Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta of "Chocolate" fame today praised the media for its role in ensuring justice in the Jessica Lal murder case, which she said would have been hushed up had the press not taken it up. Expressing her views as a guest editor of today's edition of the Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar, Tanushree said the media has emerged as a powerful force giving a voice of those who remained unheard and it was playing an important role in ensuring justice, particularly to the poor and needy. Referring to the empowerment of women in the country, Tanushree said it was the media that launched a massive campaign to provide women their rightful place in society. She appreciated the media's role in focussing on six-year-old Prince's plight after he fell into a 60-foot deep pit in Kurukshetra, leading to his rescue. Expressing her personal views about the media, Tanushree said it played a big role in her success when she emerged as Miss India and when she took part in the Miss Universe contest three years ago. If the media exposed someone's shortcomings, it also showed the remedial path, she said. She observed the media had several challenges ahead in the changing scenario the world over.
