The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today fixed August 7 next for further hearing on the application moved by one of the accused in the Ayodhya demolition case seeking to challenge the authority of the CBI to act as a prosecuting agency.
A single-Judge Bench headed by Shailendra Saxena posted the matter for August 7 after hearing the counsel of Save.
Save has pleaded in his application that the CBI was merely an investigation agency and had no right to launch prosecution proceedings.
The CBI has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the special CBI court's order dropping proceedings against former BJP President L K Advani, former union ministers M M Joshi, Uma Bharti, BJP National Vice-president Kalyan Singh and Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackerey besides Save.
