Bajaj Auto today said it will set up a greenfield project near Pune with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore to produce 50,000 vehicles a year.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding for the project with Maharashtra government here today.
The project, to be set up at Chakan, near Pune, will be operational by 2008 and provide employment to around 1,000 people, the company said.
