Big Screen Entertainment Group Wins Major Court Victory: Director/Stuntman BJ Davis Held in Contempt

By: Arts & Entertainment News

Big Screen Entertainment Group (OTC:BSEG) won a major victory in Federal Court in Los Angeles this week in its ongoing effort to release the Burt Reynolds and Raquel Welch action-comedy, “Forget About It.” The film also stars Charles Durning, Robert Loggia, Richard Grieco and Phyllis Diller.

BSEG was forced to return to court this year, when the film’s director, BJ Davis, and his associates ignored a 2006 Federal Injunction prohibiting them from interfering in BSEG’s legitimate rights to market, exhibit and distribute the motion picture. Their repeated violations led to Davis being held in Contempt.

BSEG outlined several specific acts of contempt perpetrated by Davis and his associates, including altering video trailers for the film, exhibiting an unauthorized “Director’s Cut” of the film and threatening sales agents hired by BSEG to sell the film to foreign territories. Davis also made libelous and unsubstantiated claims about BSEG’s officers, staff and shareholders.

Honorable Federal Judge A. Howard Matz, in his ruling from the bench, found that BSEG “has satisfied the burden of establishing by clear and convincing evidence that, in fact, Mr. Davis on many different occasions has violated the terms of the injunction at issue.”

Acknowledging the damage that Davis’ false assertions could potentially cause, Judge Matz has ordered Davis to sign a full retraction, and to provide the court and BSEG with a complete list of every entity that either Davis or his associates improperly contacted.

He must also serve the Order upon his associates, including Julia Davis, Anthony Falco, Eva Choina, his company, Hoboken Pictures, as well as to numerous third parties to whom he has made his false assertions.

The court has ordered that Davis must fully purge himself of the contempt in a timely manner, or suffer serious financial sanctions in the form of a $1,000 per day fine.

“This affirmation by the court will finally enable Big Screen to release 'Forget About It,' free from interference from Mr. Davis and his associates,” stated BSEG CEO Kimberley Kates. “We are extremely pleased with the efforts of our legal team, specifically Michael Gardiner and Nick Browning. We are hopeful that with the coming release of the film, we are nearing the end of a very long and difficult process.”

“Forget About It” will be released nationwide in January. “We’re confident that the film will debut to strong sales,” Kates said.
