Britney in Las Vegas recording studio for new album

By: Celebrity News

For quite some time now, the spotlight on Britney Spears has had more to do with her personal life than her music. After taking time away from her music career to have her first child, Sean Preston Federline, Spears hoped to be heading back out on tour. That was the plan, up until Spears became pregnant once again. After giving birth to Jayden James Federline, it seemed like her career might finally be ready for a comeback, but Spears had to take time to drop the deadweight, which she did when she filed for divorce from Kevin Federline. Then, her newly-found single life led her to parties, photos and the paparazzi, but now, Britney Spears may actually be giving her music career comeback a solid run.

Britney Spears left her Malibu home earlier in the week, with the paparazzi in tow, as she headed off into the desert oasis that is Las Vegas. But this time, it wasn't the partying and the gambling that brought Spears to Sin City, as Monsters and Critics have reported Spears is collaborating with top R'n'B producer Lukasz Gottwald, who has previously worked with the likes of Missy Elliot, Mos Def and the "Milkshake" girl Kelis.

If a top-level music producer isn't enough to convince people Spears is working on a new album, a source told People magazine that, "Britney is really pulling out the big guns on this album. She's been partying a lot lately but she's been working in studios in Miami and Los Angeles too. She's rehearsing material, working hard and having fun all at the same time." For a location to record her new sound, Britney Spears has chosen the Palms Casino Resort and their private recording studio. As well as working at the Palms, Spears has checked into the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa suit in the hotel's fantasy tower, along with her two children: 16-month-old Sean Preston Federline and almost-five-month-old Jayden James Federline. The $25,000 per night Hugh Hefner Sky Villa is where Britney Spears stayed when she was last in Las Vegas, accompanied by boyfriend Isaac Cohen. The suite comes stacked with a Jacuzzi, a rotating bed and an Infiniti pool, just for a touch of decadence.

Spears' trip to Las Vegas isn't just another attempt to bring in ideas and experimental sounds. Lux Life reports that Spears and Dr. Luke were working to lay down two tracks for the long-awaited album, which is expected out sometime later in the later. Along with Dr. Luke, Spears has another R&B sensation on her side, according to CBS: Ne-Yo. It's reported that Ne-Yo is writing songs for Spears, and has written a total of eight songs so far. One of the major things Ne-Yo is said to be working on is making sure Kevin Federline doesn't show up in any of the pop queen's lyrics.

Ne-Yo was quoted by CBS ShowBuzz as revealing, "Her A&R people told me, 'No more songs about Kevin.' That's what they told me coming in the door. 'We don't need no songs about Kevin ... just write Britney Spears songs'." Ne-Yo also explained that, "They'll be songs about all the controversy, then, you know, aside from all that, they'll be just regular quality songs. Songs about love, songs about hate, songs about whatever."

Ne-Yo, who wrote Beyonce's chart-topping single "Irreplaceable", said Spears' new sound will be closely linked to her former music. "She's trying to cross a few lines, she's got some stuff that's kinda R&B-ish, some stuff that's very pop-ish, some stuff that's almost a little electronica sounding. I think, judging just off the music that I've heard - because I've heard some of the other stuff she's done with other producers - I think that she might have a shot at coming back. If she can just get her personal life out of the way, I think she has a shot at coming back."

In a supportive and optimistic statement, Ne-Yo signed off by saying, "I think that once people remember what it is that made them love Britney in the first place, that everything will be alright." Now we'll just have to wait and see if fans agree.
