The 'Toxic' singer, who has been on a wild and panty-less partying spree every since she booted estranged hubby Kevin Federline out of the house, posted a message on her website to defend herself. "I probably did take my new found freedom a bit too far. Anyway, thank God for Victoria's Secret's new underwear line!" The Sun quoted her, as saying on her website. The singer also told her fast depleting legion of fans that they, and she, were sure to see a new her in 2007. "I look forward to a new year, new music and a new me," she said. Britney's change of heart came even as the singer fainted while hosting a party at hotspot nightclub Pure in Las Vegas, and had to be carried out by her minders. And even though mum-of-two's rep insisted that she was not drunk and that exhaustion and tiredness had brought about the fainting spell, she has now checked into a spa for some "rest and relaxation". A source revealed that as far as celebs are concerned a little R&R is the sign that they are dealing with something a little more serious than just "exhaustion". "With these celebrities, 'exhaustion' sometimes means something else and a rest at a spa sometimes actually translates into something a little more serious," the source said. The insider added that the people who were most relieved by Britney's decision to check herself into rehab were her parents, who have been "heartbroken" by her "downward spiral". "It's just been heartbreaking for her parents to watch Britney on this downward spiral. It's so sad," the source added.
