Bus, minibus collision kills 12 Romanians

Twelve people were killed when a bus and a minibus collided outside the eastern Romanian town of Barlad, local media reported.

Ten of 17 people riding in the minibus were declared dead at the scene and two other people, one a child, died while being rushed to a hospital, Serbia's Beta news agency said.

The other five passengers were all injured in Thursday's crash, one of them critically.

None of the 29 Moldavian nationals in the bus was injured, police said.

The Moldavians were on their way to Italy to work there, the agency said.

Romania's Mediafax news agency said investigators found the minibus was designed to carry eight people but its seats had been removed and the passengers were seated on the floor.
