IDG’s CXO Media, producer of CIO magazine events and the CIO Executive Council, announces record attendance at the 2007 CIO Leadership Conference. Now in just its third year, the event experienced a 35% increase in attendance over the 2006 program. Taking place April 29-May 1st at the Hyatt Huntington Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, CA, the conference boasted an impressive line-up of speakers---including renowned author Jim Collins---as well as the public unveiling of the CIO Executive Council’s Future-State CIO program, an assessment-based model and guide to help CIOs advance their profession and achieve greater success for both their businesses and themselves. According to Michael Friedenberg, president and CEO of CXO Media, “CIO’s suite of executive programs and events always attract the best and the brightest executive IT leaders in the field. The CIO Leadership Conference goes even further in bringing together the prestigious readers of CIO magazine and members of the CIO Executive Council along with industry leaders in an important discussion about leadership in today’s business environment and how the CIO role needs to adapt to lead the charge.” At the heart of these impending changes is the Future-State CIO program, focused on redefining the future role of the CIO at its most strategic potential and building assessment tools and resources to drive CIOs and businesses toward this potential. CIO Executive Council members Marc West of H&R Block and Louis Ehrlich of Chevron provided conference attendees with an overview of this program, including new 360-assessment tools the CIO Executive Council created in partnership with talent appraisal firm Egon Zehnder and a member-created business readiness index for CIOs to assess their organization’s ability and willingness to accept a future-state CIO. The goal of the program is to help both CIOs and their businesses better leverage their knowledge of information technology (IT) to drive business strategy, innovation and competitive differentiation. The three-day conference also included presentation of the Ones to Watch awards, an annual program honoring rising stars in information technology (IT) who bring leadership, innovation and value to their organization and are destined to become the CIOs of the future.
