CodeMesh, Inc., the leading provider of solutions for integrating programming languages, today announced that Wachovia Investment Banking, a unit of Wachovia Corporation (NYSE:WB), one of the nation’s largest diversified financial services companies, has adopted CodeMesh’s JunC++ion and JuggerNET technologies for solving challenges related to complex programming language integration. The move has already saved Wachovia tens of thousands of dollars and sharply cut the time required to enact integration projects. “What would have taken months of effort to get these integration projects right instead took a few days,” said Brent Smolinski, vice president of Credit Risk Architecture at Wachovia Investment Banking. “CodeMesh helped us integrate projects quickly. CodeMesh paid for itself within weeks.” Comprehensive risk analysis is a critical part of Wachovia’s business. It requires running massive simulations and valuations across simulated market states on a grid consisting of hundreds of computers. While this intensive environment can be a challenge for many organizations, CodeMesh’s JunC++ion solution enables Wachovia to harness the best available technologies in order to give its business users accurate and timely information. CodeMesh allows Wachovia to combine its Java-based distributed grid computing middleware with the C++-based analytics libraries that perform complex risk computations. These efforts help Wachovia in a variety of ways, from setting appropriate risk limits on individual traders and desks to calculating the economic capital needed to be held in reserve to comply with OCC (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency) regulations. Wachovia also utilized CodeMesh’s JuggerNET for the creation of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) that users interact with on the front end. JuggerNET allowed Wachovia to quickly and securely integrate the GUIs, which are written in C#, with back-end programs that are written in Java.
