A Mumbai court Saturday deferred till Aug 1 the bail plea of Praveen Mahajan who is facing charges of killing his brother and former BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.
Police urged the court not to grant bail as they feared he would abscond.
Praveen is seeking bail on the ground that he needed to prepare his defence as the investigation was over and the charge sheet filed.
Praveen was arrested after he shot Pramod Mahajan at the latter's residence in Worli in central Mumbai April 22.
Pramod Mahajan was admitted to Hinduja Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries 12 days later.
