Cruise is still Hollywood ‘Top Gun’, says Bruckheimer

Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckhiemer insists that Tom Cruise remains one of the biggest stars in the movie biz, despite Paramount Pictures ending its partnership with the actor after 14 years.

Sumner Redstone, chairman of Viacom - Paramount's parent company – announced on Wednesday (23AUG06) that Cruise’s recent behaviour was not acceptable to the studio, and that it would not be renewing its partnership with the actor.

However, Cruise has found support in the form of ‘Top Gun’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer who insists that the ‘Mission Impossible’ star remains one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, no matter what the Viacom boss might say.

"Mr Redstone has the right to say what he wants. It's not what I would do. Tom is one of the biggest stars in the world, and that hasn't changed," Contactmusic quoted him, as telling the New York Daily News.
