Top ARAMARK chefs representing Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, England, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Spain, and the United States are preparing to embark on a multinational cultural journey of a lifetime, the 13th Annual International Guest Chef Exchange. All 26 have been awarded ARAMARK’s highest culinary honor and, as International Guest Chefs, will now savor cuisine from the world’s table and share their own talents with the diverse guests dining within ARAMARK’s international on-site restaurants. “The International Guest Chef Exchange allows us to recognize our chefs’ artistry and ability to create the highest level of culinary experiences for our business partners around the world,” said ARAMARK President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Neubauer. “This program is yet another way that we demonstrate our long-standing commitment to our chefs and their professional development.” Now in its 13th year, the International Guest Chef Exchange has afforded more than 250 chefs the opportunity to enhance their culinary skills and explore the world. The cross-cultural education begins this week when 13 chefs from abroad travel to ARAMARK locations across the United States to prepare authentic cuisine for customers at businesses, universities, school districts, hospitals and sports and entertainment venues. Hosting an International Guest Chef is a great honor and care is used in making the selection. For instance, two United States auto manufacturers that have an international presence in Asia will host two Japanese chefs for an authentic culinary experience their employees will enjoy. Then, in mid-October, 13 chefs from North America will travel to Asia and Europe to share tips, talents, and tastes from around the world. At the middle and the end of the October exchange, all 26 chefs will convene at two invitation-only Culinary Showcases – one at the United Nations in New York City, and the other in London, England – to allow ARAMARK customers, clients and potential clients to enjoy the world-class culinary experience. At the United Nations, guests will enjoy such menu items as Long-Island Sound Oysters with Wasabi Granita, Chilean Beef Empañadas, Pumpkin-Ricotta Gnocchi, and Hudson Valley Duck Pâté with Spiced New York-Grown Apple Pear Compote. This year to demonstrate ARAMARK’s ability to provide high-end culinary offerings while maintaining a commitment to sustainable practices, the dishes served at the United Nations will feature fresh, organic products sourced from the Northeastern United States. From selections found on the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch list to the Rainforest Alliance-certified paper used in the invitations to the regional artisan cheeses, the Culinary Showcase at the United Nations will feature international cuisine with sustainability in mind.
