Pakistan has asked its embassies in Kuwait and Jordan to trace the kidnapped Pakistani in Iraq, foreign office spokesman Suhail Mehmod said Sunday. Pakistani driver Muhammad Shafiq was going in a convoy near Faluja when some unknown persons abducted him, the media had reported. Reports said that Shafiq, working with a Kuwait-based transport company, had gone to Iraq and was kidnapped when he was coming back to Kuwait. The spokesman said that the government had also approached the Iraqi Embassy in Pakistan to get the details of the kidnapping. "We are making efforts to ascertain the facts regarding the incident," he said. "The government of Pakistan will utilise all diplomatic resources to trace the Pakistani," said the spokesman. Two Pakistani migrant workers were killed in July 2004 when they were taken hostage by a group.
