Electronic Presents For Mother's Day

By: Louie Lucillio

A lot of people experience mental blocks when they think about what to buy Mom for Mother's Day. They tend to get her the same sort of things year in and year out. such as flowers or candy. Now, there's nothing wrong with flowers or candy, but has it ever dawned on you that Mom's just a tad bit sick of of getting the same old same old every year? Well, if not, consider this article a wake up call. (Not for nothing am I America's most celebrated holiday e-book author!) Yes, this year, let's try something different. How about a nice electronic present for Mom? And don't worry, man; you can trust me when it comes to gifts for Mom, because I live in my Mom's basement! Here are some great ideas.

1. Ipod. Let's face it; if the Mom in your life doesn't have her own iPod by now, she's officially unhip, and you've got to remedy the situation pronto. Do you want everyone in town staring at Mom and pointing whenever they see her? Hearing her called ugly things like "freak"? Of course you don't. And yet every day she walks among a public who knows she doesn't own an iPod she risks such a fate. Don't let your Mom be the last on your block to be cool. Get her and iPod, and help preserve her good name and standing in all the right social circles.

2. High Definition TV. Do you really love your Mom? Of course, you'll say you do. But do you really, really love her? If so, then you'll do whatever it takes to make sure she doesn't get arrested for rampaging in the streets next year. What am I talking about? Here's what - early next year the new law kicks in making all TV stations switch to digital only programs. If your Mom isn't ready for the change, there's likely to be a bit of unpleasantness. Don't let that happen. For this Mother's Day, get her a new HD television or a converter box for her old one.

3. Satellite radio receiver. Does your wife or mother enjoy mariachi music? Maybe's she's a big Miley Cyrus fan? No? Well, hopefully she enjoys listening to a bunch of neocon lunatics screaming about what ails America for 3 hours at a stretch? No? She into gangsta rap? Guess again, huh? Well, then it sounds like your Mom probably doesn't have much use for local radio. But you can let her listen to whatever he wants, whenever she wants, by giving her a satellite radio receiver this year for Mother's Day.

4. Get her a nicer computer. Hey Ma, welcome to the 1990s! Ha! Just kiddin' a little there. Just about every adult in America has a computer and uses it these days, and I assume your wife or mother is no exception. But both hardware and software become superseded by better, faster, more powerful versions at a very rapid rate. If her computer is more than a couple years old, she probably needs an upgrade or a whole new system. More memory, more storage, a faster processor, etc.. And if she's got one of those old style monitors, she'd love to get one of the newer flat screen ones. They're so much nicer, and they get cheaper all the time. So what are you waiting for?

5. Home Music System. Just like computers and TVs, home stereos have evolved greatly in the past few years. They've gotten smaller, better, and cheaper, all at the same time. The sound quality that comes out of products from companies like Bose and Cambridge Soundworks simply has to be heard to be believed. if your Mom is a music lover she probably will able to experience music like she never has before if you get her a state of the art home stereo system. Of course, they're all compatible with iPods now, so she can enjoy music she's downloaded from the web.

6. Get your wife or mother one of the latest generation digital cameras. It's a brave new world of technology, and it's about time she got on the bandwagon. She just needs a helping hand from you. Nobody's mom should have to pay for film ever again! And if she already has a digital camera, it's probably fairly old, and you can get her one with a lot more memory and several more and fancier bells and whistles, without spending a lot of moolah. They're cheap, and they're everywhere, even at Wal-Mart. You know what to do. Shake it like a Polaroid picture!

7. Espresso machine. Does your Mom hang out at Starbucks or some other place that sells gourmet coffee drinks? If so, that's costing her a lot of money over a year's time. if you don't believe me, just drop in the store yourself some time. Talk about sticker shock! You'd better hope they carry smelling salts! (Of course, they'd probably charge you for those, too!) But your Mom doesn't have to spend tons of money at Starbucks to get a delicious cup of coffee. There are a wide variety of well made espresso machines, and one of them would make a lovely Mother's Day gift.
