Acting on a tip off, the police raided the house of former Bihar minister Surendra Prasad Yadav in Gaya town Saturday searching for illegal arms and ammunition.
Although no arms were recovered, the police detained seven people for interrogation from the house of Yadav, now a legislator of the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
"Police raided the house after receiving information that illegal arms and ammunition were kept there," said a police official. "The MLA was not in the house but seven people are detained."
Yadav represents Belaganj assembly seat and faces several criminal charges including those of murder and extortion. He was released on bail few months ago.
