Free Summer Phone Chat with US Overseas Authors August 1-3

By: Arts & Entertainment News

As part of the August 1-6 International Read For Peace Week kicking off in Dubuque Iowa, some notable authors from US, Canada and United Kingdom would be reading portions of their books and answering questions from book lovers by phone at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. CT August 1-3.

Tagged Dial-An-Author-Reading, the three-day free public event is designed to promote reading which a 2004 report of the National Endowment for the Arts says is on the decline, and to push frontiers of the seemingly elusive global peace especially in the Mideast.

"We thought we should do something both exciting and enlightening to promote book reading and world peace and this is it," notes event initiator Paschal Eze, president of Iowa-based not-for-profit Family Reading Ministries, Inc., adding that the event is particularly good for the summer when adults are looking for fun things to do and parents want their children engaged in something that is both entertaining and educative.
