Govt appoints National Film Award Jury

The Government has appointed the jury of three categories - feature films, non-feature films and best writing on cinema section - for the 53rd National Film Awards.

The jury for feauture film section will be headed by B Saroja Devi, a renowned actress from Karnataka who has acted in more than 180 feature films. Other members are film directors P H Vishwanath, Katte Ramachandra, veteran cinematographer B S Loganath, actress Seema Biswas and others, an official release said.

The non-feature film jury will be led by Siddharth Kak and include audiographer Chinmoya Nath, producer and director Sangeeta Tamuli, director Kishore Dang and others, it said.

Khalid Mohammed will head the Best Writing on Cinema and other jury members are film critics Ratnottama Sengupta and Amitabh Parashar.

The jury members would watch around 20,000 minutes of cinema and submit recommendations to the Centre by August 17.

This year the feature film section has 125 entries and non-feature section over 160 entries.
