Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane has said that Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has informed the Maharashtra government that he did not wish to surrender his land in Mava tehsil of Pune district and hence there was therefore no question of proceeding further in this matter. Rane told reporters here that after the actor had indicated that he wished to surrender the land in the wake of controversy over his status as a farmer, the Maharashtra government authorities had not taken any action on the issue as the case on his status as a farmer was pending in Allahabad High Court. The Court later ruled that Bachchan was a farmer, Rane said, adding, Amithabh’s earlier application for surrendering the land was not processed pending the court ruling. “Now that the actor has informed us that he does not wish to surrender the land, there is no question of proceeding further in the matter,” Rane added.
