Troubled actor David Hasselhoff has slammed media reports that he was turned away from a British Airways flight because he was drunk, insisting that he was ill. "Due to a new medication prescribed by his doctor in London on Tuesday (25JUL06) for an infection in his injured hand, Mr Hasselhoff became ill at Heathrow Airport yesterday (26JUL06) and requested to be put on a later flight to Los Angeles. They gave him some strong anti-biotics and he got sick at the airport. He couldn't get on the plane. It was his choice," Contactmusic quoted the star's publicist, Judy Katz as saying. The hand injury being referred is apparently from a shaving accident Hasselhoff had suffered last month, in his hotel bathroom. The ‘Baywatch’ star had his travel plans postponed by two hours on 26th July after airport officials declared him unfit to fly. Witnesses at the airport claimed that the actor was spotted staggering around, mumbling to people and even attempted to pick up a shop manageress. “He seemed merry. He’s a huge fella and the manageress is tiny. He picked her up then put her down,” a witness said. A British Airways spokesman had also confirmed the incident and said: “A male passenger was unfit to travel.”
