Healthcare Director Gets Comfortable with the Bizarre, Paranormal

By: Arts & Entertainment News

At the urging of family and friends, Noel Brock has written the true story of Alice, a ghost that has lived with her family for 100 years. The story begins in east coastal Florida and spans from Alice's arrival to Noel's discovery of her tragic end. The events are real; only the names of the towns and people have been changed to protect the haunted.

The book contains two parts. Book One, Cassie and Jo, starts in 1937 with the purchase of the author's grandparent's house in Shady Hill, Florida. Shortly after moving into the house, it came alive with paranormal activity. With an empty rocking chair set in motion and sighting of the apparition, the family knew in their hearts and minds that their new home was haunted.

During the home's renovation, the workmen find an engagement ring with “Alice” engraved in it. An etching of the name Alice on one of the windowpanes was also discovered. From that point forward, the ghost became known as Alice. The author tells the story of the research she conducted to find out who Alice was. The author was shocked when she learned of the home's former resident, "Alice," who lost her life while living in that home. The tragic ending to Alice’s life is the beginning of her wanderings for years to come.

Book Two, Noel, begins in 1955 with the author's realization at age four that something was not right during her visits to her grandparents' home. The re-telling of childhood memories for Noel's brother Randy, sister Jen, and herself are vivid. Sixteen years after Noel's grandmother's death, the ghost resurfaces in Noel's home in Georgia. Why she is in Georgia is a mystery at first. A new home is an unlikely place for a ghost. The last chapter describes a recent visit back to the old haunted house in Florida. The new owner’s admission that she too has experienced a ghost, but only infrequently, helps Noel understand what Alice has been trying to tell her.

The Lady in Blue is a self-published book with 30,000 words. The genre is best classified as Nonfiction/Memoir/Paranormal. The intended audience is widespread as the chapters focus on the influence of Alice the ghost on the daily lives of ordinary people. Some of the family’s stories will make the readers laugh and some will make them cry, but all will give the assurance that sometimes it is what one does not see that makes one believe the most.

About Noel Brock:

This is Noel's first book. She is a director in a large healthcare facility and just completed an MBA degree. Her science and business backgrounds may not seem compatible with the subject of this book. She is the first to say that a ghost, and a traveling ghost at that, is a bizarre situation. However, she cannot imagine her family without Alice, and it is her pleasure to tell the story.
