The IPsphere Forum today announced several key outcomes from its end of the year plenary meeting in Dinard, France, highlighted by commitment of its Service Provider Council to a worldwide, joint field trial of the IPsphere framework in 2008. “Operators will test various multi-stakeholder use cases in a validation of the IPsphere framework’s enabling a far broader, and much richer set of online experiences,” said Kevin Dillon of TrueBaseline Corporation and Chairman of the IPsphere Forum. “As the first worldwide trial of multi-stakeholder services, this is a very significant milestone for the IPsphere Forum and the industry overall.” “IPsphere Forum has made great progress in its mission of developing a framework for multi-stakeholder services – now it’s time to validate the framework with some of the actual stakeholders,” added Keith Dickerson, Head of Standards at BT and Chair of the Service Provider Council. ”The IPSF Service Provider Council acknowledges this and is prepared to bring trial resources to bear.” In addition to the trial, the IPsphere Forum also announced progress to its specification efforts and overall work program, including: Seminal contributions in the area of “Vertical Partnering” that describe how IPsphere-enabled network operators and web service providers, such as content aggregators, could easily collaborate to rapidly offer richer online experiences. Advancement of its specification efforts in key areas such as Data Model and Template Structuring. Advancement of Session Services Resource Management (SSRM) specification – which details IPsphere and IMS/NGN interworking – to final ballot. Meeting locations for 2008: January-08 in China (hosted by Huawei), July-08 in Ireland, and Q3/Q4 2008 in Canada. The next IPsphere Forum meeting is a technical workshop hosted by BT from 27-30 November 2007 in London, England.
