A reading like a great grand daughter of Thomas Paine's "Common Sense," Cecily Swift's pamphlet Letter To Earth also contains a call to arms. Unlike Paine's rant against the British, this is a rallying cry not against any physical enemy, but against a depressive attitude that seems to be making humanity suicidal. Swift chose to publish with Lulu (www.lulu.com), the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books, because she believes that the ability to make one's voice heard is vitally important, and sees independent publishing as a great haven for free speech. Swift says that in Letter To Earth she wanted to shed light on why human beings seem to have lost their instinct for survival. Swift claims that today's religion and culture teaches people to "love death, not life." Writing in a style that she says strove to be forceful but not overly rhetorical, she fleshes out her thoughts in a concise eight pages. The pamphlet is free to download and is avalible now on Lulu.com. "I chose to both to record these thoughts and to publish them with Lulu for the same reason," writes Swift. "Because I believe it is imperative that thoughts be expressed and exchange as quickly and easily as possible; and Lulu makes a rapid exchange of ideas not just feasible, but effortless."
