Kamal Amrohi's grandson Mashhoor ready to roll

By: Bollywood News

Another star scion is foraying into showbiz. Mashhoor, the grandson of legendary filmmaker Kamal Amrohi, is ready to join the Bollywood race with his maiden venture "Hum Laakh Chhupayein Pyaar... Magar".

The multifaceted Mashhoor, 24, will not only play the main lead in the film but also direct the romantic comedy going on the floors next month. And he has scripted it as well.

"After graduating in arts I had plenty of free time and I used to watch lots of DVDs. After some time I decided to utilise it by writing a script even though it wasn't great enough," Mashhoor told IANS on phone from Mumbai.

"Hum Laakh Chhupayein Pyaar... Magar" deals with today's youth and their happy-go-lucky lifestyle. "It's an out-and-out fun movie with plenty of romance. It has bits of everything - comedy, action, drama and circumstantial fate."

But he is not ready to reveal the name of his co-star.

"I haven't announced my film officially yet, therefore I can't tell you the name of my co-star. Hopefully, before the launch we will announce the actress' name," he said.

When asked if comparisons with his illustrious grandfather would be unfair, Mashhoor said: "It is truly inspiring for me that I will be compared with him. He is a legend and I can never reach him. If I achieve one fourth of what he had, I will consider myself lucky. Filmmaking runs in our blood and I'll do my banner proud."

"I am inspired by all of my grandpa's movies," said Mashhoor who draws inspiration from the rich legacy of his grandfather.

Kamal Amrohi captured the imagination of audiences with "Mahal", "Daera", "Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee", "Pakeezah" and "Razia-Sultan".

Before launching his own film, Mashhoor assisted Suhail Khan and David Dhawan.

"At that time my basic criterion was to learn the technical aspect of filmmaking. Though I worked with Suhail, my amazing exposure to the art of filmmaking was with David Dhawan on the sets of 'Mujhsey Shaadi Karogi'."

Mashhoor has already braced himself for criticism from the industry.

"My film is bound to draw criticism and scepticism from the industry, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Like my grandfather, I would try to infuse my grandfather's sincerity in my film."

Music for the film has been provided by Siddharth Suhas along with debutant composer Abuzar. Six songs have already been recorded in the voices of Kumar Sanu, Shaan, Suraj, Sunidhi Chauhan and Adnan Sami.

The film is expected to be complete by early next year.
