Queen of pop Madonna has landed herself in some hot soup with animal rights groups – by importing baby pheasants chicks to her English country estate, so that they can be nice and fat for the shooting season. Madonna, who along with hubby, British director Guy Ritchie owns a sprawling property in the west of England is reportedly getting set to charge customers up to 10,000 pounds a day for the privilege of shooting the birds once the season starts on 1 October (06). Andrew Tyler, director of Animal Aid, slammed the ‘Hung Up’ singer, and said that her actions were ‘not in harmony with nature’. "Shame on Madonna. This is not in harmony with nature. It is the production of factory birds to provide a live shooting gallery," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying. A spokesman for the singer confirmed the buy, but said that the purchase would not be taking place again. "We can confirm that the estate got 1,000 birds form France but we won't be doing it again," he said.
