Days after he met Hurriyat leadwer Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that those who believed violence could bring a resolution to the Kashmir dispute "cannot be taken onboard." According to the general "We cannot take people on board who believe in confrontation and who think that only militancy solves the problem." "They cannot be taken on board, they will remain opposed to whatever we do," he said. "They will create all obstacles and we have to be steadfast against all that they do," he said while dwelling on the Indo-Pak peace process. Musharraf said the nation would be taken into confidence when the two countries reached a solution to the Kashmir imbroglio. "A premature disclosure of details of talks with India would harm the peace process," he said adding, "there are opposing views. When you reach a decision on resolution of the dispute, you will certainly be annoying one or the other group," he said. Musharraf, who last week met Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, wanted to know who should represent the opinion of Kashmiris. "We have to identify who are the Kashmiris. We obviously think it is All Parties Hurriyat Conference, which is Kashmiri. Is everyone agreeing that the AHPC is the sole voice of Kashmir," he asked. Bomb attack Musharraf did not appear to be unduly perturbed over the recent suicide bomb attack on January 26 on a prominent hotel in Islamabad, hours before the Indian Republic Day reception was scheduled to be held there. Two persons including the suicide bomber were killed. "There is no problem...things happen. But we still have to remain steadfast," he said adding the two countries should be "bold enough not to get swayed by bomb blasts." Asked about the status of investigations related to the blast, he said "there is no breakthrough in the investigations." About the confidence-building measures initiated by India and Pakistan, he said they were progressing well and he was "fairly optimistic" that the two sides would be able to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues. "Our relations have never been this good before in our history, and we ought to be happy about that," he said. Mirwaiz's Pak visit Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Omar Farooq said that during his visit to Pakistan he had asked the militant leadership to support the Kashmir peace process. He was speaking in a Friday congregation in Srinagar on Friday. He also said that Musharraf has assured him that Pakistan will accept any solution even if it is not in the interests of Pakistan as long as it is acceptable to the people of Kashmir.
