He hoped that it (EU) would adopt a "balanced and forward looking" report on Kashmir. "Failure is no option with regard to the Pakistan-India peace process, as failure would give a boost to extremists," the Daily Times quoted him as saying. Pakistan had made various proposals for a Kashmir solution but India had not responded positively, he said and added that Pakistan was willing to be flexible if India was too. Musharraf was speaking at a meeting with Elmar Brok, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the European Parliament, and James Elles, chairman of the All Party Group on Kashmir. On the occasion, he also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and measures that his government had taken to counter extremism and militancy and for political and socio-economic development in the tribal areas. Brok and Elles also met with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, who stressed that settlement of the Kashmir dispute would enable the two countries to leverage their full economic potential to improve the lives of their people.
