Top-seeded Anastasia Myskina of Russia was among Thursday's quarterfinal winners at the Istanbul Cup Tennis Tournament in Turkey. Myskina, who won the French Open in 2004, beat No. 6 Catalina Castano of Colombia, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Elsewhere, second-seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany beat unseeded Karolina Sprem of Croatia, 6-4, 6-4; No. 4 Shahar Peer of Israel trounced seventh-seeded Mara Santangelo of Italy, 6-1, 6-2; and, in a battle of non-seeds, Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands beat Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus, 6-1, 6-0. In the semifinals on Friday, Krajicek will test Myskina and Groenefeld faces Peer. A check for $30,500 awaits the tournament's winner on Saturday. The clay-court event is the final tune-up before the start of the second Grand Slam of the year, the French Open, which begins Monday in Paris.
