RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of video, data, and voice services to residential and business customers, announced today that it would be supporting two local Washington, DC Indian Film Festivals, “DC Meets Delhi” and “Indian Visions.” Presented by The University of the District of Columbia, DC Meets Delhi Film and Arts Festival (http://www.udc.edu/dcmd) opens September 7 and events will run through the 14th. The film festival is described as being “a fusion of feature films, documentaries, dance, discussions, filmmakers and thinkers… the arts and cultures that shape urban life in two capital cities.” It includes numerous events including premiers of Bollywood feature films and a Family Day on Sunday, September 9. As an opening night and overall sponsor, RCN will be donating advertising spots to promote the festival, which will take place primarily at the University’s on campus film theater, auditorium and outdoor theater. Indian Visions (http://www.indianvisions.org) is presented by Filmfest DC, organizers of The Washington DC International Film Festival, and will have a gala opening night screening of “Dosar” on Thursday, September 6, followed by a reception at Washington D.C.’s Indique Heights. Other screenings are scheduled for September 7 through September 9th. In addition, RCN carries TV Asia on Channel 655 and ZEE TV on Channel 656, as well as the MHz Network, an independent, noncommercial, television network delivering international, educational and arts programming (which includes a number of Indian and other South Asian programs on MHz1, Channel 190, that are aimed to reach the more than 150,000 people of Indian descent in the area, according to UDC.) RCN is also offering a special promotion to get basic cable for three months at $30 a month and get Zee TV and/or TV Asia for an additional monthly fee. In addition, the company is offering High-Speed Internet for FREE (for one year) if customers subscribe to cable TV and unlimited local phone service for just $75 per month.
