To further assist evacuees of the San Diego County wildfires, Rite Aid is providing bathing facilities and bathing linens to evacuees at the New Song Community Church shelter in Oceanside, CA. The local Rite Aid stores have also provided food, beverages and personal items to those at the shelter. More than 400 evacuees so far have taken advantage of the bathing facilities opened last night at 3955 Mission Avenue, which is near the church in Oceanside. “The evacuees are so grateful, especially those without cars, that they can take a hot shower without driving somewhere,” said Steve Foster, Executive Pastor of New Song Community Church. The showers continue to remain open for those who need them. “Rite Aid responded immediately and generously to support families who were forced out of their homes by fire,” said Representative Darrell Issa, who alerted Rite Aid officials about the need for access to the facilities after visiting the evacuation shelter on Wednesday. “We greatly appreciate Rite Aid’s contribution to the community-wide effort to care for our neighbors in this time of crisis.” On Tuesday, Rite Aid shipped more than $75,000 of supplies, including eye drops, lip balm, sunscreen and hand sanitizer, to the American Red Cross chapter in San Diego County to be distributed at various shelters. The Rite Aid Foundation has also donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts in San Diego County. “One of Rite Aid’s core values is to be caring neighbors in the communities we serve, and we were happy to work with Congressman Darrell Issa to provide the bathing facilities,” said Vince DiMaggio, Rite Aid Regional Vice President for Southern California. “Our associates have been amazing in their commitment to do whatever they can to help the victims of the fires.” Rite Aid customers impacted by the Southern California wildfires can continue to fill or pick up their prescriptions at any open Rite Aid, even if their neighborhood store has been evacuated. This includes prescriptions that have been filled at a store that might be closed but not yet picked up. Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) is one of the nation’s leading drugstore chains with more than 600 stores in California and 5,100 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.
