The Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), managing the 1500 mw Nathpa-Jhakri hydro-power project has been awarded "Silver Award" by Delhi-based Greentech Foundation for "exemplary" performance for second year in a row. The project has been following the required environment management policies for upgrading ecological balance in the project areas and their vicinity, an SJVN release here said. The upcoming 412 mw Rampur hydro-power project of the Nigam had also been selected for "Bronze Award" for instituting organised dumping activities for managment of 30,000 lakh cubic mts of muck, likely to be generated due to excavations. The project has already identified and developed dumping sites and built retaining walls.
