Following her first round exit from last week’s Stanford Open, Sania Mirza has slipped a further two places to 44th spot in the latest WTA rankings released today.
Sania, who crashed out in the first round of the 600,000 dollars WTA event in the USA, was on 42nd place last week. But after losing in straight sets--6-3, 6-2--to Russian Vasilisa Bardina, she dropped two positions in the single’s ranking and now has 477.50 rating points.
In doubles, the Hyderabadi remains on her career-best position of 31st with 951 points after her good run at the Tier II hard court event where she reached to the semi-finals with American partner Bethanie Mattek.
However, the pair could not make to the final as they lost in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to the fourth seed Italian-Argentine duo of Maria Elena Camerin and Gisela Dulko on Sunday.
