With "A Public Affair" due in U.S. stores this week, singer Jessica Simpson says her new album represents the product of some difficult times in her life. The 26-year-old singer said she began recording the album over a year ago during her much-publicized divorce from singer Nick Lachey -- and that while "Affair" will offer listeners a series of dance tracks, it will also reflect her feelings on her struggles, CBS reported. "Of course," the pop singer said, "I went through a lot of emotional changes, a lot of stuff in my life, and I wanted to be in a place in my life where I could share music from my heart and where I was at that very moment. So, you will hear a lot on my album about just needing my friends' support, going out and having a good time, but also you'll hear songs about heartbreak and inspiration and self confidence and loving yourself." The "In This Skin" singer also said that with a broken blood vessel having temporarily taken her singing voice, she has been writing journal entries as a means of communication -- and for personal therapy as well -- CBS said.
