The Best You Can Be Foundation will partner with Temple Beth Emet and Dreams for Kids to host “Holiday For Hope”. For most children the holidays are a time of joy, connection and celebration; but for those living in poverty it is often a time of isolation and despair. This event will invite 100 needy children from the Children's Home Society to a celebration of pure joy and magical holiday fun. As a community, they will be joining individuals and groups in over 32 cities in 6 countries to host the largest event of its kind in the world for needy children on our planet. This is the first year our community will be part of the celebration. The “Holiday for Hope” festivities will be held on December 16th, 2007 at Temple Beth Emet in Cooper City. The event will be a celebration of music, art, games activities, food, gifts and joy! The children and their parents will be brought to Temple Beth Emet on a bus. As they exit the bus, they will be showered in snow and greeted by Billy the Marlin and Mickey and Minnie dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus. The fun continues as magician James Canfield mesmerizes the children. After the magic show, the kids can move and groove through Birthdays with a Beat's enormous obstacle course, giant slide, rock wall, and dance to the music of Partytime DJs. These special kids can explore their creative side with the help of Oopsy the Clown and Santa's Elves through sand art, balloon art, painting, interactive games and motivational art projects. Kati’s Shining Stars will host a spirited holiday sing along with the children. Finally, these very needy families will have their picture taken with Santa by Amy Kahn photography and will enjoy a festive meal sponsored by Temple Beth Emet. At the conclusion of this day of holiday celebration, the children will leave with a gift sack filled with toys, clothing, life changing books from Advance Publishing, and stress reduction CDs from The Best You Can Be Foundation. More important than the gifts, these families will leave knowing that people truly care about them. Dreams for Kids Founder, Tom Tuhoy held the first “Holiday for Hope” party in 1989. Today, the event services 1,200 kids from the Chicago area. The party is held in 32 cities, including: Denver, Atlanta, Chicago and Cooper City. Worldwide celebrations are held in South America, Europe and Africa. Each event benefits a worthy children’s charity in their community. According to Dreams for Kids, "Seeing the joy a single day can bring to a child who is searching for hope, we soon realize one person reaching out to another can change a life-and a large group of people, working as one, can change the world. There is no question this year marks the beginning of something extraordinarily special. Imagine how many kids lives will be impacted because of this day!” How can a single day make a difference? According to Debbie Milam, Founder of the Best You Can Be Foundation, the answer is hope. “A life can be changed with the gift of hope. A child can be reassured someone cares. A single person can make a difference. A large group, working as one, will change the world,” states Milam. Temple Beth Emet is located at 4807 South Flamingo Road Cooper City, Florida 33330. The Best You Can Be 501C3 Foundation is dedicated to supporting parents and teachers to inspire children to reach their highest potential.
