Tom Cruise on cruise control to salvage image

Tom Cruise is calling in the big guns for a new mission. However, this one doesn’t involve saving the world from destruction, but salvaging his own image.

Cruise’s couch-jumping behaviour, his rant against anti-depressants, and finally being dumped by Paramount Pictures for “unacceptable behaviour” has taken their toll on the actor’s popularity, especially among his female fans.

Q Scores, the firm which measures stars’ popularity found that the 44-year-old actor’s appeal had fallen 45 per cent among his faithful female fans.

It was the same among male fans, with Cruise’s popularity seeing a sharp 40 percent fall.

A source close to the ‘Mission Impossible’ star revealed that Cruise’s camp was now doing its best to show him in a more positive and “normal” light.

“There is a move to show him in a more normal light,” The Sun quoted the source, as saying.
