Turbulent 2006 gives Jessica Simpson a "new perspective" on life

2006 may have been quite a turbulent year for singer Jessica Simpson, but she still feels that it has taught her a lot about herself.

25 year-old Simpson, who had a bitter-sweet year, ranging from her divorce from Nick Lachey to botched Dolly Parton tribute, insisted that her experiences in the past year have made her see life in a "whole new perspective".

"Everything that happened last year made me realize what I want from life and what's important. I've learned so much about myself and I've taken on a whole new perspective." ContactMusic quoted her, as saying.

"This time last year, I really thought I knew myself completely. But I didn't at all. I was in this place where I wasn't going up or down or figuring anything out. I was so complacent," she added.

And while 2006 was certainly a roller-coaster ride for the singer/actress, it certainly ended on a positive note, with Simpson's public canoodling with singer John Mayer on New Year's Eve leaving little doubt that the two are indeed a couple.
