VisionShare Inc, a leading provider of secure, low-cost, reliable data communications services for the healthcare industry, today announced the launch of the VisionShare Secure Exchange Site™, a secure Internet portal that allows healthcare providers to process Part B Medicare and other payer claims directly from their Web browsers. The service is being rolled out to providers in the state of New York to help those affected by a recent announcement by Empire Medicare Services. The announcement states that Empire plans to eliminate e-Link, the connectivity application Part B providers in New York currently use to access Medicare. Secure Exchange Site would replace e-Link with a high-speed, single-interface connection to multiple payers for one low, flat-rate monthly subscription fee. “We’re very excited to offer this comprehensive solution to New York providers – a solution that includes access to both Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield from a single Web site. It makes our progressive connectivity solution accessible to small- to medium-sized Part B providers in an easy to use, cost-effective medium,” said John Feikema, president and CEO of VisionShare. In New York, providers will initially be able to check the status of Medicare claims and confirm Medicare eligibility (subject to Medicare restrictions), along with submitting claims and retrieving remittance advice for both Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Other capabilities will be added as they become available. VisionShare developed Secure Exchange Site as a cost-effective solution for Part B providers throughout the United States who want to benefit from the convenience and speed of electronic claims processing without purchasing and maintaining hardware. “The Site allows us to expand our secure communications infrastructure to the Part B market and complements our server and desktop solutions well,” notes Feikema. Currently over 5000 healthcare providers use VisionShare server and desktop solutions for secure Medicare claims processing. Providers that choose Secure Exchange Site will note a number of productivity and time-management enhancements: Reliable, fast connectivity Connectivity is through the provider’s existing Internet connection. A high-speed Internet connection reduces, or even eliminates, the long screen refresh times and dropped connections inherent in dial-up communications. Logical, streamlined work flow Superfluous logins and “clicks” are eliminated, and the entire work flow has been streamlined to save time when accessing services. Fast learning curve Navigating and using the site was designed to be intuitive and uncomplicated. For example, providers will be able to access all available payers from a single screen on the site’s home page. That means users won’t need to learn different software and processes for different payers. VisionShare plans to roll out Secure Exchange Site to more states in the coming months as they transition through important, mandatory modernizations to the Medicare fee-for-service program’s administrative structure. Actual services will vary from state to state, depending upon the payers assigned to the state and transition award particulars. Secure Exchange Site is available for Part B Professional providers in New York today at a $29.95 monthly subscription fee.
