The West Bengal government is yet to ascertain its requirement of central paramilitary forces for deployment during by-elections to three Lok Sabha and one assembly constituencies in the state on September 16.
"It is being ascertained," Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb told reporters when asked how many companies of security forces the state government would seek from the Centre for deployment during the polls.
Earlier, Deb held a meeting with Chief Electoral Officer Debashish Sen and Home Secretary Amit Kiran Deb to review the security situation ahead of the polls.
