William Bray of The Bray Law Firm in Charlotte will speak at the 2nd Annual Sports & Entertainment Law Conference, which is being held at the North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham on February 22 and 23. Bray's presentation will be entitled "Wearing Too Many Hats" and will examine the potential risks of a broad sports and entertainment law practice. "My practice involves working with clients in a wide range of sports and entertainment industries," said Bray. "On any given day, I may advise clients in motorsports, music and film. Hopefully I can shed some light on not only the risks, but the rewards, of a broad-based sports and entertainment law practice." In addition to being a partner in The Bray Law Firm, Bray is an Adjunct Professor of Sports Law in the Sports MBA Program at UNCC Charlotte's Belk College of Business. Bray is also a past chair of the Sports & Entertainment Law Section of the NC Bar Association, a 150-attorney organization dedicated to promoting the practice of sports and entertainment law in North Carolina. His practice consists of extensive work in NASCAR, where he represents teams and drivers in matters ranging from sponsorship to litigation, and entertainment, where he works with clients in music, film and television. Bray is a frequent speaker on sports law issues. In 2006 he acted as the program planner of Law in the Fast Lane, a two-day continuing education seminar sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association which focused solely on legal issues in the world of motorsports. In April, he will serve on a panel hosted by the The Racing Attorneys Coalition (TRAC) at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, which will examine legal issues related to the representation of teams and drivers. The Bray Law Firm is a three-attorney firm based in Charlotte. It offers a wide variety of general corporate law and small business services in dozens of industries in the areas of business law and commercial litigation. It is one of the few firms in the region, however, with a dedicated emphasis in the areas of sports and entertainment. In addition to working in NASCAR, the firm represents clients involved in film, television and music.
