Would You Treat A Cystitis Infection And Not Tell Your Partner?

By: Scott Schofield

My business is treating cystitis / UTI symptoms. This article is about a dilemma I have met several times while talking to people who are suffering from a repeated UTI, cystitis or bladder infections, (also frequently called urinary tract infections). I hope that this will help other sufferers to know that they are not on their own, and that others worry too

Is regular sex important to your life and in your relationships? (For the majority of us it is, even if we have trouble in admitting it -even to ourselves). The difficulty is that even if sex is not particularly significant to you personally, and you can actually say that you would be content if your relationship had no sex within it -would your partner say the same?

Awkward question eh? A true and loving partner will probably put up with a lot -especially if they know that you are unwell and have no control over your condition. But no sex??? For many partners that would be a real test of relationship!

You have caught and need to treat UTI. You also have a devoted long-term partner. What will you do? Do you really know him or her that well? Will they really be sympathetic and supportive? After all, a UTI or bladder infection is not like putting on a few pounds, or being cranky, or having a broken arm. Those conditions might make things tricky in bed (especially that broken arm), but at least your partner can't catch a broken arm or depression from you after a vigorous hour or so -unless they fell out of bed anyway!

But a UTI, especially a repeated UTI infection is very different! In spite of the fact that a large proportion of the population have had a UTI at some time; in spite of the fact that Cystitis Pain is very rarely life-threatening; and in spite of the fact that cystitis or UTI is not regarded as a sexual disease; - for most people it is still an embarrassing illness. No-one talks about bladder infections in mixed company!

And if you pluck up the courage to talk about it? Well, you'll without doubt separate your best friends from the rest. They'll all feel sorry for you and comfort you, but only your best friends will always be there to support you when you need them. And what about your sexual partner? That's a whole different situation, because unlike your other ailments, UTIs and Cystitis CAN be transferred to someone during sex.

So should you tell them you are treating cystitis? A partner who really loves you will probably be understanding - at first anyway - and be ready (for their sake as well as yours), to refrain from relations until treatment can be had and is effective. The trouble is, antibiotic treatment for cystitis isn't always immediate, or effective, or enduring, especially using doctor-prescribed antibiotics.

Antibiotics don't permanently eradicate the UTI bugs in the urinary tract that cause the condition, and now that doctors prescribe much shorter courses of drugs in the interests of preventing them becoming even less effective, infections can and usually do recur, often easily and often.

In such a situation a partner or lover may gradually become less understanding, less tolerant and (eventually) less loving. It's all about the way our brains operate- if we are used to sex several times a week, and then it's suddenly withdrawn, we are likely to get irritable and - eventually - unreasonable. We may know perfectly well that treating cystitis is not a partner's fault, but we eventually begin to blame them and (sadly) start looking for other alternatives.

So one solution for a sufferer of repeated UTI infections is not to tell their partner, but that won't work if you feel so bad because of the infection that you just don't want any sex any way. You can go to a doctor and get another prescription for antibiotics, then take a substantial initial dose in the hope of quickly killing the cystitis infection, (and risk the nasty side-effects that can result from killing off most of your good bacteria too). Or you could look around at traditional natural remedy for cystitis. There is a fantastic natural cure for UTI, one which quickly and effectively treats most bladder infections, cystitis and UTIs.

It is called Mannose,or D-Mannose or even Waterfall D Mannose (no, I don't know why either). It's an extremely unusual remedy and very effective just because it works so differently from any other cystitis remedy. It passes through your urinary system, and as it goes, it sucks up all those nasty e-coli bugs clinging to your bladder walls, and holds them in suspension until you next urinate and expel them Simple eh?

In many cases Mannose can start working right away, and in less than an hour that cystitis pain is gone. For most sufferers, regular small daily doses of Mannose will hold Cystitis, Bladder Infections and UTI's at bay indefinitely. Chronic Cystitis sufferers who have suffered many earlier attacks will probably need to take more Mannose, and for longer, but almost all repeat UTI sufferers recover more quickly and more permanently than those relying solely on antibiotics. Mannose is inexpensive, and needs no prescription.

There is a whole boatload of stuff to learn about what causes cystitis and repeated UTI s, and about D-Mannose - a fascinating material - and a genuine natural remedy for Cystitis UTI. There is a comprehensive and growing Mannose Information page on my health blog-site, where the answers to all the questions cystitis-sufferers ask are freely available, not only about how mannose works in the treatment of cystitis, but also a lot about Cystitis, Bladder Infections and UTIs in general.
