Based on the contents of Dr. Acuff's new book: The Future of Youth Marketing -- The Enrichment Mandate, how marketers reach kids, tweens and teens in the future and with what products and programs will change almost beyond recognition. “There are important and even alarming facts about future technological innovations and their impact on the future of kid, tween and teen marketing,” says Dr. Dan Acuff, President of Youth Market Systems Consulting (ymsconsulting.com). “Marketing to young people will change dramatically as technology continues to expand,” Acuff says. Some indications: 1. By the year 2022 robots may represent more bottom line sales than the auto industry. 2. By the year 2030 computers will be more efficient than the human brain in most respects. 3. Much of the hardware that kids use today will be obsolete as tech moves more and more into satellite based and wireless. Imagine for example, kids no longer needing MP3 players. With circuits smaller than skin cells implanted beneath the surface of their skin, they will be able to access music via satellite by using a touchpad on the back of their hand that’s connected to circuit-cells beneath their skin. And this is just one of hundreds of tech innovations that will transform youth marketing forever. Companies that ignore these developments and trends will fall short of their goals or become extinct along with obsolescent technology. “More than ever before,” says Acuff. “Companies need to get at the forefront of the learning and change curve as it happens and even before it happens. We’re in the business of assisting all those who desire to stay at the forefront -- especially those who are committed to responsible market to our young.”
