Zonbu, the company that pioneered affordable, green and hassle-free computing, today announced that it is introducing a new notebook computer and service. The new Zonbu Notebook will be manufactured by Everex. The Zonbu Notebook is based on the same operating system as the award-winning Zonbu Mini desktop computer. Starting at $279 upfront and a $14.95 monthly subscription fee, the Zonbu Notebook and service will include 20 best-of-breed software applications, free and automatic software upgrades, generous online storage, file remote access and sharing, automatic data back-up, unlimited online tech support, and free hardware replacement in case of damage. Best of all, it eliminates the need to spend any time on managing PC, or to spend money on anti-virus packages, back-up storage or firewalls. “People fell in love with the Zonbu Mini because it freed them from all of the hassles associated with computer maintenance,” said Zonbu CEO Gregoire Gentil. “Now they can have the same benefits on-the-go with the new Zonbu Notebook.” According to Gentil, people shouldn’t have to be their own IT administrators. “We don’t want people to spend a single minute worrying about configuration, setup, crashing hard drives, viruses, hackers, or data loss. That’s our job,” said Zonbu CEO Gregoire Gentil. The new notebook computer will be manufactured by Everex and has received the EPEAT silver rating from the Green Electronics Council. “We were intrigued by Zonbu’s commitment to radically simplifying the computing experience for consumers and eliminating all of the hassles,” said Everex CEO John Lin. “We’re excited to bring such an affordable and easy-to-own alternative to the market.” Although the final version of the Zonbu Notebook will be available early 2008, Zonbu fans eager to try it can order a Zonbu Notebook with a beta version of the software starting today on www.zonbu.com. Once the software is finalized, their system will be automatically updated. About Zonbu: Based in Menlo Park, Calif., Zonbu is a pioneer in affordable and hassle-free computing.
